The Neon Palette

The dance floor is a static gateway to freedom and offers license to express oneself fully. In this busy and stressful world, dance clubs have swooped in and offered a momentary escape from the adversities that weigh us down. The dance floor is a blank canvas, and your footsteps create something beautiful upon a dirty floor. As the sweat drips, one feels that he can do whatever he wants and doesn't have to worry about what other people are thinking. In fact, they're probably not even thinking (at least not critically). They're dancing. There are very few things better than being surrounded by friends in the center of a dance floor as the flashing lights infuse with sound waves for a stimulating and heart-thumping evening.

Trumpets of San Francisco

One of the things I love about cities is the creative and talented people
who inhabit them. I feel that a single image of a native does more justice in
portraying the vibe of a city than a plethora of snapshots, void of people, could ever bring to the table.

The bright colors of this trumpeter's outfit caught my eye, and the festive noise that ensued from the combination of his trumpet skills and his tap dancing hit my ear-drum. I talked with him for a bit, and he seemed very mature for his age. He's going to go far, and already has (Apparently he's playing the trumpet at an upcoming Giants game!).

Folklore Galore

Often times when I am photographing a live concert, I try to mirror the sound which the band is producing through my images, in hopes of giving the viewer of my images a taste of what the performance was like. Here I tried to create a climactic, yet playful photo to mimic the vivaciously individualistic group. In this photograph, a Santa Barbara-based band called Finger Folk electrifies the crowd with one of their most popular songs.
